Political, environmental, social or otherwise: The best T-shirts to make a statement.

Lately I've been roving the internet looking for t-shirts that do more than make me laugh or impress my friends. It's allowed me to connect with a global community of truth seekers willing to take a stand for how they believe life can be lived on Planet Earth, starting with their own thoughts, beliefs, and actions.

I found a ton of great shirts. Thanks goes out to all who had the courage and creativity to make them.

Here's my top 10:

10. Yoga Tribe & Culture: Compassion is King. Women's. 45% Bamboo, 55% Organic Cotton. $55

Beautiful, unique shirt style and great design. Check this one out:

9. Shirts For Obama: American Gangster Mash-Up. Men's. Printed on American Apparel. $19.95

One of two from http://www.shirtsforobama.com that made my top 10. Big ups for showing support at a crucial time in our nation's history, and taking a stand for (in my opinion) a galvanizing, once in a lifetime leader BARACK OBAMA. Also available on Alternative Apparel, Jonano, and Continental Clothing Company. 100% Organic, American Made, sweatshop free, and bamboo options.

Obama is taking our nation by storm. Dope!

8. Apoplectic Press: You are Not Alone. Women's. $20.99

This one speaks to me on so many levels. I can't tell what brand of t-shirts they print on.

The text reads: "You are not alone. There are many of us who refuse to submit. Hope is still alive. I love you. Pass it on."

7. Wildlife Works: Wild Bird Men's Tee. Printed on 100% Organic Cotton. $19.99

This t-shirt doesn't make a strong statement, but the company sure does:

Every time you buy a Wildlife Works product, you help build a brighter future for endangered wildlife and their habitats. It's called Consumer Powered Conservationsm - and you make it work.

Proceeds from your purchase protect wildlife by placing large areas of wilderness under conservation in Kenya and providing jobs for the people who share their land and resources with wildlife, so they can feed their families and send their children to school without destroying animals and their habitats.

Awesome. http://www.wildlifeworks.com/prod/product395.html

6. Blank Generation: The Solution Comes Up Every Day. Men's. $19

One of my favorite designs. The presentation of the shirts on their site could be improved, in my opinion. And I can't tell what type of shirt they print on. It looks cool, but no word on if it's organic, sweatshop free, etc.

5. Livity: Stay Green. Men's. Printed on a hemp/organic cotton blend. $30

Livity as a company has some of the freshest threads in Los Angeles and beyond. That said, I'd still prefer to see their "Stay Green" design on a shirt, preferably on an actual person. It helps me see what I might look like wearing it.

4. Sameunderneath. Vote Global. Men's/Women's. Bamboo Jersey.

Another awesome concept: Sameunderneath is not only a clothing company, but also a belief in life itself. Society must not focus on the things we don’t have in common, but should magnify the things we do have in common. Sameunderneath supports the largest race in the world, the HUMAN RACE. Sameunderneath speaks the loudest language, that being love.

I think they are only available in stores, so here's a link to where you can go to buy them:

3. Clothing of the American Mind: Reduce Reuse Recycle Rethink. Men's. Printed w/ non toxic, water based inks, sweatshop free. $34

COTAM support groups that are pro-choice, pro-human rights, pro-peace, pro-democratic and pro-environment. $35,000 donated to date. Enough said.

But wait go to their site and see... WHAT!? Is that Josh Brolin pictured in one of their shirts? Hot.

Seeing is believing:

2. Shirts For Obama: Barack The Vote. Men's. Printed on American Apparel. $25.95

Pictured on one of my favorite DJ's Brad from Moontribe (top), and below him donned by a man who needs no introduction: Vik from http://www.vik-approved.com and http://www.thelazyrando.com

This shirt amplify's Obama desire to access the U.S. public on a grassroots level. Together we move him one step closer to becoming our 44th president. Join the massive movement at:

1. 2>4 (2 wheels are greater than 4 wheels): Proletarian Threads. Printed on sweatshop free garments. $14.99

My choice for #1 is simple. I think if everyone in the world got out of their cars and onto their bicycles it would cause a profound shift in life as we know it. Water would turn into chocolate and there would be free beer for everyone. What more could we want?
